Dear Camp Videos

September 26, 2018 by Jessica Santos

Hello Turtle Family!

We want to hear what Camp means to you. Campers, volunteers, supporters, friends of Camp, staff, and anyone involved… We’re asking the simple question: What does Camp mean to you?

Film a short video and send it to us for a chance to be featured on our social media!  Here are some guidelines to help you with your filming:

  • Aim for roughly 30 seconds
  • Some example prompts:
    • “Camp is…”
    • “What I learned most at Camp is…”
    • “What makes The Painted Turtle special is…”
    • “A special moment I had at Camp is…”
    • Anything else you’d like to share!
  • Film horizontally.
  • Using your phone to film is fine! No need for fancy equipment.
  • Don’t be afraid to be silly or creative!

The Painted Turtle Campers Light Up the Grove

November 14, 2017 by Jessica Santos

The holiday season is officially here! On Sunday, November 12, The Painted Turtle campers were the stars of A California Christmas at The Grove’s pre-show! Campers illuminated the stage and accompanied singer Steve Tyrell in a roaring rendition of “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.” Page Adler, co-founder of The Painted Turtle, spoke about camp to a sea of Angelinos and shared a beautiful video that encapsulated the spirit and purpose of camp. Click here to view it!

The Painted Turtle board members and supporters were there to take in the show at La Piazza Italian restaurant where they enjoyed fabulous food, spectacular views of the show, and a craft and games room for the kids which included a chocolate fondue fountain with marshmallows!

The remainder of the evening featured performances by special guests, including holiday supergroup Band of Merrymakers, Jordan Fisher, Jordin Sparks, In Real Life, and Ruben Studdard, as well as the lighting of The Grove’s 100-foot Christmas tree—all hosted by Derek Hough of Dancing with the Stars. The celebration culminated with a fireworks finale, the appearance of Santa; and, if you can believe it, it actually snowed!

Special thanks to Rick Caruso for making The Painted Turtle the charity of choice and ever so much more.

We extend our deepest gratitude to the Caruso Affiliated team and the La Piazza restaurant for making the evening so magical. Thanks to all who came out to support. Proceeds from this event will make it possible for more children with serious medical conditions to experience the magic of camp.
