The cost of funds raised based on Charity Navigator’s Fundraising Efficiency calculation was 17 cents on the dollar, exceeding the standards established by organizations that monitor the work of charities.

The Painted Turtle’s fiscal year is January 1 – December 31.
Support of $4.7 million funded fiscal year 2023 operations. An additional $360K was received from capital campaign contributions. Gifts from individuals comprised 28 percent of operating contributions while foundation and corporate gifts amounted to 21 percent and 18 percent, respectively. Special events contributed 13 percent and an annual commitment from our board members accounted for 8 percent. Health partner donations contributed 5 percent, associations, civic organizations and 3rd parties contributed 4 percent, gifts-in-kind and special projects contributed 2 percent, while Camp rentals and athletic event donations contributed the remaining 1 percent.
Fiscal year 2023 expenses totaled $4.5 million. Expenses for Camp programs represented 80 percent of total expenses. Development costs represented 15 percent of total expenses, and general and administrative costs accounted for the remaining 5 percent of expenses.
