Child Life Practicum
A child life practicum is an
introductory experience for individuals pursuing a career in
child life. This experience can provide valuable knowledge of
evidence-based, developmentally appropriate child life
interventions. The Painted Turtle is happy to provide a 120-hour
practicum experience through our in-hospital camp program,
Outpost, combined with a residential camp session (summer session
or family weekend).
Prerequisites
- Completion of one child life focused course taught by a Certified Child Life Specialist prior to start date.
- Applicants with volunteer or work experience with well or hospitalized children/families preferred.
Application
- Submit a CampSite application with 3 professional references.
- Select “Lead Details” as school program, then write “Child Life Practicum” in the details section.
- Complete a 30-minute Zoom interview.
Requirements If Selected
- Upload proof of vaccinations (MMR, Tdap, Varicella) to your CampSite.
- Upload proof of a current flu shot (October through April) to your CampSite.
- Submit volunteer Yearly Forms and Medical Forms to your CampSite when applicable.
- Complete Live Scan background check.
- Complete an Abuse Prevention Training.
- Complete virtual Outpost volunteer orientation.
Application Deadlines
- Spring Semester: Friday, January 24th, 2025. Practicum runs March-May.
- Summer Semester: Friday, May 2nd, 2025. Practicum runs June-August.
- Fall Semester: Friday, August 1st, 2025. Practicum runs September-November.
